Incoming On the Town Headliner Misty Copeland Engaged to Taye Diggs' Cousin, Olu Evans

Incoming On the Town star Misty Copeland is engaged to her longtime boyf, lawyer (and Hedwig headliner's Taye Diggs' cousin!) Olu Evans. The ballerina recently revealed the news to Essence magazine, saying: "“I can’t believe my life right now!"

Copeland's already got some thoughts on her wedding dress. “I’d like to show my figure, somewhat—romantic and elegant. I don’t think I want to go super poofy or anything like that," she told Vanity Fair. "It’s very different for a performer, a ballerina, someone who is onstage a lot and wears big costumes. So it's not like this is my chance to be that way, because that's something I do every day, almost. I want to feel like myself—but more beautiful than I do every day.”

Copeland, the first African-American prima ballerina at the American Ballet Theatre, will begin performances as Ivy Smith in On the Town on August 25 and will remain with the Broadway revival until it closes at the Lyric Theatre on September 6.
